Lattice General Purpose FPGA Overview

BeiLuo supplies genuine Lattice general purpose FPGAs, the ECP5 and Certus-NX families that designers reach for when a system needs flexible connectivity, control logic or interfacing that an ASIC or ASSP cannot provide economically. The ECP5 family covers roughly 12K to 85K logic cells with dual-channel SerDes, sysDSP blocks and a broad package range, and it remains a workhorse for video, communications and industrial bridging. The Certus-NX family is built on the Lattice Nexus platform using 28 nm FD-SOI technology, offering up to 40K logic cells with industry-leading I/O density in packages as small as 6x6 mm, plus hardened PCIe Gen2, Gigabit Ethernet and DDR3 interfaces. A general purpose FPGA lets you add programmable glue, protocol conversion or a hardware accelerator late in a design without a new ASIC mask, and low-power process technology keeps the energy cost modest. ECP5 suits cost-sensitive, high-volume designs, while Certus-NX targets compact, power-sensitive products that need high-speed interfaces. Both families support instant-on configuration from external SPI flash and a mature toolchain, so bring-up is predictable. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. Our FAE team helps you choose between ECP5 and Certus-NX, estimate logic and memory use, plan the configuration scheme and verify I/O standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read the Lattice general purpose FPGA table?

Start with the Series to see whether the device is ECP5 or Certus-NX, then use Logic Cells and Embedded RAM to fit your design. Multipliers matter for DSP and the Package and Temperature decide the mechanical and thermal fit.

Certus-NX adds hardened PCIe, GigE and DDR3 interfaces that ECP5 does not have.

ECP5 or Certus-NX: which general purpose FPGA should I choose?

Choose ECP5 for cost-sensitive, high-volume bridging and control where SerDes and a proven architecture matter. Choose Certus-NX when you want lower power from FD-SOI, higher I/O density in a smaller package and hardened high-speed interfaces.

The decision is power, density and interface integration.
